| AH, London! London! our delight, | |
| Great flower that opens but at night, | |
| Great City of the midnight sun, | |
| Whose day begins when day is done. | |
| Lamp after lamp against the sky | 5 |
| Opens a sudden beaming eye, | |
| Leaping alight on either hand, | |
| The iron lilies of the Strand. |

Today as I walked home in the bitter cold, I threw my scarf over my shoulder and pushed my hat down firmly on my head to prevent its escape. Every time I caught sight of my shadow I saw the
painting on the right in my mind's eye. As you can see I am still fixated with the fin de siècle. I cannot wait to start writing my dissertation (more on that another time)
